In March NAWMA was presented a prestigious national award for its visionary management of the Uleybury Landfill and Renewable Energy Park.
Judges from the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) acknowledged the site, which is 30km north-east of Adelaide, as a world-class landfill with pioneering developments. These include Australia’s first combined solar thermal and methane gas renewable energy facility which exports enough power to the grid to service 1,900 homes each year.
The award is another milestone in NAWMA’s commitment to building a circular economy by minimising waste to landfill, maximising resource recovery, creating renewable energy, supporting local jobs and manufacturing and protecting the environment.
