In July 2018, NAWMA took over control of the Pooraka Waste Transfer Station, renaming it the NAWMA Resource Recovery Centre. The new name reflects NAWMA’s philosophy of prioritising the recovery of resources for reuse, rather than discarding items as waste.
Existing services at the site will continue and NAWMA will also introduce recycling opportunities for a range of additional items including x-ray film, liquid paint and fluorescent tubes. Whilst there are fees for disposing some items, many are accepted free of charge.
Residents of the City of Salisbury, City of Playford, Town of Gawler and surrounding council areas can access the Pooraka Resource Recovery Centre facilities seven days a week.
